Kittens are so much fun, but they require a lot of care and attention, especially throughout their first year of life! The first step in our comprehensive kitten health program is a thorough physical exam performed by one of our experienced veterinarians. During the initial exam your kittens individual vaccination and parasite control needs will be addressed. Good nutrition is the other key factor in ensuring optimal health and we will discuss your kitten’s specific needs.
At 5-6 months of age, we strongly recommend spaying or neutering your kitten. Not only will this help reduce the overwhelming amount of homeless cats in our area, but it also can reduce unwanted behaviours such as urine marking, roaming or aggression, as well as greatly decrease the incidence of mammary cancer if done before a female cat’s first heat cycle. If you plan to have an indoor/outdoor cat, we would be happy to discuss the risks and what we can do to prevent parasites and unwanted diseases, such as FIV or Feline Leukemia Virus.
If this all seems overwhelming for you, we have tailor-made kitten packages that include a comprehensive care throughout their first year of life with great savings. The comprehensive package include vaccinations, deworming, fecal examinations, six weeks of free pet insurance, a free bag of premium kitten food, parasite prevention, microchipping, pre-anesthetic bloodwork, as well as a spay or neuter. Additionally, as part of this program, it includes free office calls for the rest of the year in case any illness arises. A more basic package is also available. Contact us by phone or e-mail for more information on this great starter program!
